At Crescent Avenue Christian
Preschool, our children learn by DOING.
We emphasize the five senses as
tools to enhance development.
Our programs are designed to fit
the child instead of making the child fit the program.
Educators call this kind of
teaching "developmentally appropriate practice". One way to
provide this is through out educational centers:
Learning Centers:
Children have a free choice of activities.
Block Centers:
Enables creative expression and imagination.
Readiness Centers:
Displays a variety of books on a particular theme.
Science Centers:
Stimulates critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Housekeeping Centers:
Provides role play and 'work'
activities.
Art Centers:
Allows children to expand their creativity utilizing an array of
materials.
Math Centers:
Uses 'hands-on" manipulatives to learn math skills.
Bible stores and songs are also included in our daily activities and
we have Chapel once a week in the church, parents are welcome to join
us!
Discipline
We use 're-direction' and 'thinking
time' as a mean of correcting behaviors.
We also encourage the
TACT method of discipline
guidelines.
